Hailing from Guelph,
Ontario, Gavin Smith earned a college degree in economics along with his healthy
attraction to the game of poker. Oddly enough, he was introduced to the game
at a charity event while he worked at a golf course. With some immediate success,
Gavin turned professional about 8 years ago, and is a consistent competitor
at the top tournaments around the world. He currently resides in Las Vegas.
Gavin is known for his talkative nature at the table, which
he feels can give him an edge over opponents who can be rattled. A self-described
‘wild-card’ as far as his play is concerned; instincts have clearly
taken Gavin to where he is today. As far as deeper analysis and strategy is
concerned, Gavin was coached by the WPT Season Two Player of the Year and close
friend Erick Lindgren. He values their relationship whole-heartedly. This coaching
has certainly paid its dividends, as Gavin made another final table on the WPT
at the Doyle Brunson North American Poker Championship and at the World Poker
Open in Tunica. Although he spends most of his time around the game of poker,
when not at the poker table, Gavin is your average 31 yr. old, who enjoys talking
about sports and playing golf.
Past accomplishments
include taking 52nd in the World Series of Poker for $45,000 and claiming first
prize winnings of $155,880 at one of the smaller events at the Mirage Poker
Showdown. He also broke through, taking the main event of the same tourney,
and considerably more dough, adding $1,153,278 to the coffers.
$500.00 USD + Shipping is the sale price.
